Goals & Success Metrics for AI

If you can't measure it, you can't improve it

"Using AI" is not a goal. Business outcomes are: faster customer replies, more orders, fewer mistakes, lower staff overtime, or better cash visibility.

Pick one primary metric for your first pilot. Add a secondary metric only if it's easy to track.

Metrics that work for SMEs

Set a baseline before you start

Measure the current state for one week: how long do replies take? How many hours on marketing? Write it down — even rough numbers beat guessing later.

Without a baseline, you can't prove ROI to partners, investors, or your own team.

SMART goals for AI pilots

What success does not look like

If metrics don't move in 30 days, change the workflow or tool — don't just renew and hope.
